Week 8 Reading and Writing

So far, I've really enjoyed this class. Most of the readings have been really interesting. Sometimes, I get in a hurry to do my reading notes, and I don't enjoy reflecting on the stories as much. When writing my reading notes, I try to think about aspects of a story that I enjoy and write them down. Then, I can think of an outline for a story I might want to write, which I make note of for future reference.

I really like the way my project is going. I thought it would be a lot more stressful, but it's very laid back and I get plenty of feedback and time for editing. I think the first story turned out pretty well. I'm excited to see what else I can come up with for my next one. I like the way that I don't have to focus on a certain topic with the portfolio. I would rather spend my time editing a story to make it the best it can be than try to find a way to fit all of my stories together seamlessly.

One of my favorite images that I've used so far was the Cabin in the Woods. This was the setting for my story Hide and Seek. I wanted it to look cute and well tended. I also think the picture is a tad creepy. That cabin looks to be out in the middle of nowhere. If you went inside, and something went wrong, no one would be around to hear you or help you. The story it went along with had a bit of a dark ending, so I thought this fit well.

I've noticed that I tend to stick with a certain style of writing. Usually in modern times. I almost always just retell the story in my own way. In future writings, I plan to branch out a little bit. I try to experiment with different points of view and settings. I know I need to give myself more time to really think on my reading notes so I can come up with great stories later. Overall, this is a great class, and I'm excited to see where it takes my writing.
